Home/How It Works

From first survey to first solar export

From first call to first generated kWh in six to twelve weeks. Here is exactly what happens when you put your roof to work with Suncharge.

More than panels on a roof

A commercial solar project is finance, engineering, and grid negotiation as much as it is panels. Done well, payback typically lands in 4 to 8 years with another 17+ years of near-free electricity to follow.

Our process spans three workstreams that run in parallel, each has its own page if you want to read on.

Step 1

Solar finance modelling

Before any panel goes on the roof, we model three funding routes side by side: capital purchase with full-expensing tax relief, operating lease, and zero-CapEx PPA. Every line of cost is itemised, capex, finance interest, SEG export income, O&M, so the route you pick is the one your CFO can defend.

Step 2

Roof, shading & grid survey

We carry out a structural and shading assessment on every roof and check your DNO grid headroom and kVA capacity. That tells us how many kWp the site can host without needing an expensive grid upgrade, and where battery storage or export-limitation can recover capacity you thought you'd lost.

Step 3

System strategy & PPA tendering

Multi-site businesses get a portfolio rollout plan, ranking sites by ROI and matching each to the right funding mix. We tender Power Purchase Agreements and Smart Export Guarantee tariffs across the market so the same kWh earns more or costs less, depending on the side of the meter.

Your project journey

Step 1

Free Site Survey

Send us a recent electricity bill and a few site photos, that's all we need to get started.

  • On-site structural and shading survey by an MCS-certified engineer
  • Half-hourly load-profile analysis to size the system to your real usage
  • DNO connection check (G99/G100) to confirm grid capacity headroom
  • Roof condition and asbestos check (where relevant) before quoting
  • All findings written up in a feasibility report with payback numbers
Step 2

Bespoke Design & Install

Bloomberg Tier 1 panels, certified inverters, and an MCS install crew working around your shifts.

  • Detailed string layout, optimisers where shading demands them, and inverter sizing
  • Full DNO grid application and structural sign-off handled in-house
  • Workplace, fleet, and customer EV chargers integrated where relevant
  • Installation programmed around your shift patterns and shutdowns
  • Commissioning, MCS sign-off, and SEG registration completed before handover
Step 3

Generate, Monitor, Save

From the day the meter is energised, your bill drops. We monitor 24/7 for 25 years.

  • Live string-level performance monitoring with automated fault alerts
  • Annual planned maintenance: cleaning, IV-curve testing, torque checks
  • Inverter and panel warranty management for the full asset life
  • Annual export-revenue reconciliation against your SEG / PPA agreement
  • ESG / Scope 2 / SECR-ready performance reports each year

Ready to put your roof to work?

It takes less than five minutes to share a recent bill and roof photos. We take it from there, feasibility, design, and a fully-costed proposal in days.
